The shift
A single general-purpose assistant produces confident answers with blind spots — missed edge cases, security holes, design debt. You find them in review, or in production.
NightCouncil makes the engine the product. It manages roles, shared context, memory, routing, and consensus independently of any single model, and records everything as an immutable event stream. The client — desktop, web, or your own — is just one window into it.
How it works
Every message, review, vote, and decision is an event on an immutable log. Modules subscribe instead of calling each other — so the timeline, consensus, memory, and audit all read the same source of truth, and any session can be replayed.
Claude, ChatGPT, Kimi, Grok, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint — plus MCP-native tools like Cursor, Cline, and Windsurf connect directly.
Builder, Architect, QA, Security, Critic. Each argues from its expertise and challenges the others, so weak proposals don't survive.
The engine runs against your own encrypted vault. You bring your own model keys; the workspace connectors read your repository directly. Nothing leaves your machine except the calls you choose to make.
